Welcome to Cycling with Sarah! We are Manitoba’s first and only senior women’s cycling club. Cycling with Sarah was launched on May 10, 2023, at Bikes and Beyond on Henderson Highway, Winnipeg.
In the fall of 2022 Bikes and Beyond approached me about becoming a Liv Cycling Canada Ambassador. Liv is the only major cycling brand that is totally dedicated to women and that spoke to me right away.
Why did they approach me?
In 2017 I retired and rediscovered my joy of cycling. I began riding longer distances and went on many solo cycling adventures but I was missing sharing it with other women. I spent a lot of time at Bikes and Beyond and received great mentorship there and Katherine White the General Manager thought being a Liv Ambassador was a great next step for me.
Liv’s mission is to get more women on bikes, and I knew right away I wanted to start a senior women’s cycling club. Throughout my years of cycling alone I tried to connect with other bike groups but encountered barriers that didn’t make it a good fit for me. Senior women have some specific needs and requests so that was what I was going to create.
What does Cycling with Sarah look like today?
The first big step was Rose McDonald our Co-Founder joining me in March 2023. She was my first cycling sister. Together we worked hard and dreamed big. We started with our first Chapter of Cycling with Sarah in the Northeast part of Winnipeg with 18 members. Today we have 3 Chapters of Cycling with Sarah which offer 6 weekly group rides; our Northeast Chapter which runs out of Bikes and Beyond, our South Chapter running out of Woodcock Cycle and our West Chapter running out of Olympia Cycle. In total for 2026 we will have 75 women cycling with us!
Another big development in 2025 was the creation of our Advisory Committee. These women bring a wealth of knowledge including Ride Leading, Event Planning, Policy Development and Health. We also have external professionals in the industry such as the Manitoba Cycling Association who are there to offer guidance and support.
A big part of Cycling with Sarah is our belief in the value of giving back to others in our communities. Since our launch in 2023 we have supported:

- Main Street Project’s Socktober Campaign
- The Manitoba Shoebox Project
- Wrap for the Cure in support of Cystic Fibrosis Research

- Winnipeg Humane Society
Cycling with Sarah is so blessed and fortunate to have incredible support from our community. We feel honoured that these businesses understand and support our mission, values and goals. Our women owned businesses tell us they hope when they are ready to retire there will be a group like this for them. The male business owners often talk about their mothers and wives and see the incredible benefit of women being active and strong together both physically and mentally as they age.
